Free Guided Meditation
In lieu of simplicity day on the 12th July, Priya will be offering a free 40 minute guided meditation / relaxation session on Saturday 18th July at 4pm. Whether you are new to meditation, or just want a chance to de-stress, sign up! All you have to do is email your interest to firstname.lastname@example.org She will then send you a Zoom link for you to access the meditation. All participants will also receive 20% off their first Reiki treatment session with her at the Wellness Centre.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the ability to be present, to rest in the here and now, fully engaged with whatever we’re doing in the moment. People often get confused between meditation and mindfulness. It is not a temporary state of mind- it is a way of living. We are constantly thinking about the past or worrying about the future, rarely do we sit in the present moment.
We have 60,000 thoughts a day and 90% of those thoughts are the same thoughts as the day before. So we are worrying and stressing about the same things day after day. We know it doesn’t change anything yet we still do it.
So being present is not necessarily stopping those thoughts, but becoming aware of them. Instead of getting caught up in them, allowing us to become more thoughtful in how we want to respond.

What is meditation?
Meditation is the process of quieting in the mind. There are a number of different techniques to do this. One of the most popular is focused-attention/mindful meditation – focusing on one specific thing such as the breath or a sensation in your body
You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts and feelings. You’re learning to observe them without judgement. Continually bringing your attention back to your focus point or the present moment.
A lot of people try meditation once and then give up, but learning to meditate is like learning any other skills – it takes time and commitment. Some of the benefits of meditation that have been scientifically proven include: reduced stress, improved sleep, improved immune function, decreased blood pressure, reduced depression and anxiety and many many more.
